It’s all about pushing a female solo character in a segment of the market where female solo characters don’t last or even exist at mainstream level. All the personnel and lineup issues are about this, including the issues with credit and royalties. How can you be like No Doubt but only really push the main character as so much is just created by the producers?

The first album I heard by them Was Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished and I was immediately hooked. It pretty quickly became my favorite album of all time and it still is 3 years later. I've never heard anything else like it

7 years after the release of OML, I finally listened to it. While my first impressions that prompted me to skip the record were proven correct and I didn't care for the now-dated pop conventions (they were arguably dated at the time of release too), I didn't actively hate it either. I just found myself confused and left with more questions than answers. What prompted such a dramatic push into gimmicky pop? How much of the album was actually tied to Chester's mental state, and how much the perception of it has just been fans projecting their grief over his passing? How did they justify writing a soft pop ballad like Battle Symphony when their previous album, THP, *was* a battle symphony? Who amongst their core fanbase did they expect to stick around when on songs like Sharp Edges, it sounds like the band is actively renouncing their past history? I'm all for growth, especially if it's from trauma, and I see how the album represents a desire to move on in life. But OML feels like an overcompensating rejection of the band's past rather than a natural evolution.

Funnily enough I was introduced to them through TBHC and thought it was a joke record at first. Being American, and a rock lover, I had never heard of them much outside of their name a couple of times. I fell in love with the sound of that album though, and it's still one of my favorites to just bust out and relax too now and again. Going through their back catalog was a trip, and they remain firmly cemented as one of my favorite acts of all time.

The early years , they felt like a band, then it was all about Chris Martin.

As a Brit we loved the first 3 albums as that was what made kings of Leon, once ‘only by the night’ came out was when they reached American success, but I feel for Caleb that sex on fire was their way to America as they had so many good songs outside of that commercialism. For a long time they’ve been a certain standard of band in the states but they’ve sold out their uk tour and i guarantee they’re be headling Glastonbury again and that would be the only reason I’d go haha

Ronald Jones to me was a huge loss when he left. He brought that edge that to me made the band who they are. They had some great albums after but it was a steady decline not long after.

I came here swinging thinking "concept album" meant unfinished EP albums--like "concept" as in not fully-realized-yet, and I was gonna be like, you're so wrong, these albums are so intricately and thoroughly considered! But I was wrong--you really hit the nail on the head about Glass Animals' work. The work is CONCEPTUAL, inspired by tons of inspirations, often narrative-leaning. That's what I misunderstood. I'm so glad I watched this video because it's phenomenally conceived, edited, and executed. Thank you so much!
